Kids Update in January

Now that school is back in, I have started babysitting. A little girl from Austin's class comes home with him and stays here until about 6. So its only about 3 hours a day. Austin wasnt too thrilled about it. I guess girls are yucky right now lol. But they seem to have things worked out now and can pretty much get a long.

Im in the process of getting Breanna seen at the school for speech therapy because we were supposed to go through the school system once she turned 3. But somehow we ended up at a private therapist and now the insurance doesnt want to pay anymore. But it is supposed to take 3 months to get through the process to get Breanna in the school system. I've talked to a lady at special services for the school district and she's going to sign my form that Tricare needs and write a note saying we're in the process and it will take atleast 3 months if they could approve her to be seen privately until then. So Im sending that off today.

Austin is still struggling in school. He needs help on letter recognition and sounds. It's what is keeping him from being able to read like the rest of his class. Im not sure why its not clicking with him. It can be frustrating for both of us. Since I've started babysitting the girl from his class, I set them both down at the table right after school to do their homework and he has struggled with me to do his homework less each day. The two of them are quite competitive and it seems that this is working out for both of them. She told me her parents dont let her read at night, and she doesnt get to fill out the book sheets for Pizza Hut to get the free pizza's. So, she reads to me and I fill it out. Sometimes I just let Austin read to me because he needs more help and I have her read to Breanna. Breanna really enjoys it. But I still stay close so I can hear if she's struggling on any words.

The school was wanting Austin to repeat 1st grade. But when I mentioned that even if he doesnt repeat any grades, he'll already be 19 when he graduates Ms B was surprised. She didnt know that Austin had repeated Kindergarten already. Well, it's in his damn school records! So now she wants him to go on to Second Grade but to be in a Special Education Class (ESE). I called Navy Onesource again and asked for a list of private schools and if they have scholarships. I should get that list sometime today. Then I have a phone conference with a Navy Onesoure councelor tomorrow at 5 to get more information on what we can do. Im also going to be asking about summer school programs. Atleast a reading class to keep it fresh on his mind.

Tristen still isnt walking but he's getting closer. He can hang on to furnuture and work his way around it. He hasnt stood without holding on to somthing yet. But he's becoming more and more dare devilish lol. He's growing like a weed. He wears 18 - 24 month clothing now and is only 5 lbs lighter than Breanna. He's 24 lbs. Recently we found out that he LOVES Mc Donald's chicken nuggets and he can recognize a Krispy Kreme box. He likes doughnuts! But what kid doesnt? lol He doesnt get much cuz its really not good for him. But we give him a bite every once in awhile. He just goes crazy when he sees the box though lol. He has 4 top teeth and 2 bottom teeth now.

Well that's all for now.
Pictures to come soon!
