Toddler Bed

on Friday, September 01, 2006

I bought Tristen a toddler bed a month or so ago. The crib he sleeps in is borrowed and we need to give it back. But it's too big for us to buy a new crib. But he just doesnt want to sleep in the toddler bed. So Im really stuck. So yesterday, I took apart the crib and put his toddler bed in the same place as the crib had been. I had to sit with him for awhile and he finally took a nap in the toddler bed. But only for 1 hour. Usually he sleeps for 2 to 3 hours at naptime. So then last night I had to sit with him again. I got maybe an hour of sleep and he woke up and screamed til I went in there. I ended up staying up in his room for several hours and every time I tried to leave he would get up and scream again. Finally at 3am, I moved him to my bed with me and Breanna. Yeah, Breanna peed her bed again so she was sleeping with me too. Im debating putting the crib back together. Im soooo tired. And Tristen is still sleeping in my bed. I gotta figure something out soon. But for now, Im going back to bed.

Matt in the Newspaper

on Thursday, August 31, 2006

Matt was featured in a couple of pictures of the Mayport Mirror.

http://adserver1.harvestadsdepot.com/mayportmiror/ss/050293/

He's on page 4 at the top on the far left and on page 5 first picture and last picture on left as well. But the last pic he is facing away from the camera.

He has been spending his time in ports doing volunteer work and helping to rebuild and repair damaged buildings. He has also been featured in some Chilean newspapers as well. He's just so photogenic haha!

Deployment Time

on Monday, July 03, 2006

My mother in law, Debbie and 2 of my sister in laws, Samantha and Devin came to visit us before Matt left. We went to St Augustine to the Alligator farm. I've added some pics below. We went to Adventure Landing and the girls had fun going down the "Toilet Bowl Slide". It's actually called something else, but it looks like a toilet that flushes you out the hole in the middle. Debbie planted a garden for me and taught me some things about gardening. I'll have to take some pictures of it and post it here. We did a lot of running around while they were here but we had fun. We went on a Family Day Cruise on Matt's ship too. Austin and Devin got the "Big Gun" shells to take home. We were worried the airport wouldnt let Devin take hers, but they did. None of us got sea sick. But we saw a lot of people who did. The rocking motion put me and Debbie to sleep and the "Big Gun" woke us up lol.

Matt left on Friday morning. Austin didnt want to go see him off so he and Tristen went to the neighbor's house. Breanna went with me to see Daddy off. We walked around on the ship a little bit and waited for the CMC to get the CO so that he could give me my Ombudsman Pin. It was an informal presentation, but it still cool. Breanna wanted to stay with Matt on the ship. She got upset when she couldnt. We stayed until they told the visitors to get off the ship. Matt seemed more upset about leaving this time than he usually does when he has to go somewhere. It upset me more that he was upset. He's getting tired of leaving us. But it's what we signed up for. Breanna and I went to the Jetties to watch the ship leave port. I wanted her to see and understand that he wasnt just going to work, but that he was actually going away. We waved to the ship as it left port. We couldnt tell which guy Daddy was because they all wore the same thing, but we knew he could tell who we were so we waved to everyone. Breanna cried a few times that night. She even slept in my bed. But she was ok the next day.

If you want his email or his mailing address to send care packages, let me know.
