Crazy Days & Ketchup Packets

on Wednesday, April 08, 2009

I had a really crazy day on Monday. I had to go downtown to the courthouse to pay a fine for a bounced check. OOPS! I drove around for about 15 minutes looking for a metered parking place and couldnt find one. So I had to park in one of those expensive lots even though I was only going to be there for 15 minutes. So I find a close lot and pay my 10 dollars, squeeze out of my car and head to the courthouse. As soon as I walk through the door, Tristen decides he has to potty. Well the jurors are taking their potty break at the same time so there are people all over the place. We finally got upstairs to pay the fine and Im in this little room that is the size of my closet talking to the chashier through those stupid window vents...and some janitor lady comes in and decides that she needs to vacuum at that exact moment. I couldn't hear the cashier and I was trying to tell the lady to turn off the vacuum and apparently she didn't speak english.

Since I had to pay so much for parking and we were across the street from a Riverwalk entrance, I decided to take Tristen for a walk. Tristen saw the boat taxi's and wanted to ride on one. So we went to where they sell tickets and they only take cash...I just gave all my cash to the parking guy and the courthouse. So I was going to find an ATM. Once I found on, Tristen didn't want to ride the boats anymore. So I saw that we were not too far away from the Children's Museum. So we went there. Tristen had a blast.

Then when it was time to head back to the car...turns out I don't know how to read the city maps that were posted all over downtown, because I went the wrong way and got lost. I twisted my knee walking around the tore up streets and it took us an hour to finally find my car. By that time, we were starving, so I told Tristen we would go to McDonald's. He fell asleep so I opted for the McD's by our house. We got home and sat down to eat and Tristen wanted ketchup. So I opened one of those little ketchup packets and the damn thing cut my finger! Who does that? Who cuts their finger on a ketchup packet??! I guess just me.

AND THEN...the next day....
I had to go up to the school to pass out fundraiser stuff to the classrooms. I didnt have anyone to watch Tristen, so I took him with me. He was a pretty good helper. I had a rolling crate and he was in charge of pulling it around the school. He had a good time doing it. We also needed to print the PTA Newsletter for the school, but I was waiting for the principal to approve it. We were there for about 1 1/2 hours and she still had not had a chance to look at it, so I decided to go ahead and go home and try again on Wednesday morning while Tristen was in speech. Tristen had been so good so I decided to treat him to icecream. He wanted McD's again. So I went to the drive through and as I pulled up to pay I realized my purse was in the crate in the back of my van. So I told the cashier, I was sorry, my purse was in the back and could I pay for it up front. I went inside and tried to tell the guy at the counter what had happened and he said I needed to place my order again. So I did and paid. But I guess he was wrong because the lady at the window kept trying to give our food to all the cars that drove up and she was confused. Finally a manager came up to find out what was going on and I waved her over to explain what I did. She apologized to me and looked at her co-workers like they were idiots. Well...I was actually the idiot here. But oh well. Oh yeah, and we used our own ketchup instead of using their deadly ketchup packets!!

Air Show

on Friday, November 21, 2008

We went to the airshow this month. Matt had to work at the airshow so we just showed up. He got to spend quite a bit of time with us. We just had to make stops so he could check on his students. Here are some pictures.

Eat BEFORE you go to an event that charges 8 bucks for a hamburger!

Free stuff is cool! Even if they are star shaped sun glasses!!

Dressing up like a soldier is cool too!

Unless the gear weighs more than you do!

OOO Race car!!
It's always fun to get on an airplane!
Dad thinks he is THE MAN.
There is the Princess!
I think that Camelbak is bigger than Tristen.
Dad and Austin checking out the planes.
Tristen was ready to jump out of the plane. GRRR!

Mom and Dad

Happy Halloween!

The Saturday before Halloween, we took the kids to the Halloween VIP night at the gym that I belong to. We dressed them up in their costumes and dropped them off at 6pm and we didn't have to pick them up until 11pm. So we went out on a date!!

We went to the Riverwalk. We had a good time at Ripley's Haunted Adventure, Guinness World Record Museum and Tomb Rider 3D. Then we walked around for a bit before heading back to get the kids.

They had a great time. They had a haunted house, moon bounce, trunk or treat and best of all, Breanna won the Costume Contest!

The kids carved their own pumpkins with a little help from Dad. (L: Austin, M: Tristen, R: Breanna)

Matt took the kids Trick-or-Treating while I stayed home to hand out candy. We didnt get as many kids as we thought we would. But I did get a couple of dogs that enjoyed some doggy treats lol. The kids went around 2 blocks and had to dump their bags. People were handing out candy by the handfuls. I have to admit, I started handing out two handfulls of candy towards the end and we still have some left over. Anyone want some gummy eyeballs, or other gummy body parts? We have plenty!

Update: A year later

on Tuesday, September 09, 2008

So it has been over a year since I wrote to this blog. My Papa pointed out that people do still check it and I should be posting. So, here we are again. A quick rundown of what has happened over the past year...

We moved to San Antonio, Texas. Matt is now stationed at Lackland AFB and he is a Non-Lethal Weapons Instructor. He teaches the Navy guys at the Master At Arms school. He really likes his new job.

We bought a house. It was built in February. We signed on it the day after Matt's birthday. Happy Birthday Matt! HAHA. It's a two story, 3 bedroom with a gameroom. We love the fact that we have our own fenced in yard.

We bought a dog. Well if you want to call it a dog. It is a chihuahua/terrier. His name is Peanut. And although he was for the family....he's MY dog. Right now he is still being potty trained...ugh. But he knows how to play fetch lol.

We bought another car. Matt got a 2004 Mazda 6. We got a great price on it. Oh yeah, and the guy at the dealer ship that sold it to us was a Retired Navy Senior Chief! GO NAVY!

The kids are going to a school that was just built this summer. It's nice! Breanna is in Kindergarten again. Which is ok, because she was the youngest kid in her class and since her birthday was in July, she didnt really have to start the year we started her. Austin is in 4th Grade. He's having a great time. Im on the PTA as the Council Delegate and the Communications Chair. Tristen is going to speech therapy at the school twice a week.

I've got a new hobby. Im doing Genealogy research on my family. Im really enjoying it. Right now Im working on my Mom's side of the family.

My sister joined the Navy and she leaves in October for boot camp. We are all proud of her but we are going to miss her lots. I just had a visit with her over Labor Day weekend. She and I went to Oklahoma to visit our Grandparents. We had a great time with Papa and his stories about growing up. Sarah and I had no idea that he was living in the house that he was raised in. Why did we not know that? We also had a great time with Grammers at the Casino and of course our new favorite wine that is unfortunately local to her area, so we can only have it when we visit haha.

Well thats about it for now. Hopefully not for so long this time.

Dont Ask If You Dont Want An Answer

on Sunday, July 08, 2007

We went to church today. The kids had a lot of fun. They bring the kids in at the beginning of church for "Children's Church" and they sit on the stairs at the front and listen to their lesson. You know how preacher's ask questions but do not expect answers. Just those kind of questions that are supposed to make you think? Well Breanna answered all the questions. In fact she talked through the whole thing. She thought she was just having her own conversation with the preacher...in front of the entire congregation. Everyone laughed because it really was sweet and funny. He'd ask something and she'd blurt out, I JUST DONT KNOW...so then he'd tell her the answer and she'd say...OOOOOOH OK. And he asked them if they were ever scared and she said IM NOT SCARED, IM A GIRL! And he asked if they were ever mad or angry and she said, YEAH IM MAD AT MY BROTHER. HE'S SO MEAN TO ME SO I DONT LIKE HIM. And the preacher was talking about singing to god when you're scared or mad because you cant feel those feelings when you sing. And Austin said, well you could pray. LOL and Tristen was talking away too. OUR KIDS were the only kids that talked the entire time. And they didnt care that the congregation was laughing at them.

The boys got haircuts. Here are some before and after pics.

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day, I got roses, cards, a book that Breanna made and a card that Austin made. I also got to go to CompUSA and buy myself a new laptop.

Breanna's book had a fill in the blanks page.

She wrote:

My mom's eyes are brown.

My mother's hair is black.

My mom weighs 9 pounds.

My mom is 2 years old.

My mother's favorite place to go is the flower store.

My mother's favorite food is McDonald's.

My mom is the best at giving me drink and eat.

The thing I like best about my mom is her hair.

I think my mom is pretty.

It's really cute!

Matt made pancakes and eggs for breakfast and Breanna helped. She loves to help cook and do the dishes. She's getting to be such a big girl.
